Little Rex

“The world of reality has its limit; the world of imagination is boundless.” ¬ Jean Jacques Rousseau

We learn better when we think and explore freely. It is when the environment provides children an opportunity for inclusive learning. The reader “Little Rex” is an amusing story about a dinosaur. It depicts the characteristics of dinosaurs and the hatching of baby dinosaurs from the eggs. The reader intrigues the kindergartners by its non-scary character Little Rex. They pretend to be a dinosaur and unleash the characters of the story with their imagination.

Our enthusiastic Kindergartners had the introduction to the reader “Little Rex” on Thursday, 11th November 2021 through a storytelling session. The session was planned to pertain the reader to children’s imagination. The activity also built a cross-curricular link to Knowledge and Understanding around the world as students were able to explore fossils, dinosaur eggs, etc. The objective of the activity was to make students understand different attributes of a character, imagine freely, explore akin information, and build interest for reading. The Kindergarteners used dinosaur props like claws, tails, and headbands to be a part of the dinosaur world. They were asked to bring dinosaur toys to share what they feel about their dinosaurs. The activity was fun-filled. Children explored their surroundings and enjoyed listening to the story. Later, they completed the book review and discussed it with their friends.
