Dignity day is when we are reminded of our basic right and duty towards all which is to maintain one’s self-respect. Worldwide it is typically celebrated on 20th October. At Beaconhouse NNC the whole last week of October conveyed the message of love, humanity, equality and empathy through a myriad of performances. Whether it be the comic skit “Parcel” which spoke high for the rights of the poor and destitute or the tragic story of the increase in old age shelters. Furthermore, young souls emphasised the need for acceptance for one another and serenity in the world through various posters and artwork. Perhaps what became the talk of the town was the appointment of dignity ambassadors from each section who pledged to uphold their responsibilities to sustain tolerance, justice and equality both on campus and in the outside world; these ambassadors will continue with their duties till the end of the session from 2021-2022.Thus the importance of this fundamental right should not fade away as the year progresses but instead, each day of our life must be spent for its awareness and preservation. To conclude it can be said that, dignity has no nationality, gender or class and bringing this concept to normalcy is the key to ending all types of discrimination.
