To instill 21st century skills in our young learners we adopt new strategies to provide favourable environment for experiential learning with peer collaboration.
A Puppet Show was organized by students of Class 7 at Primary Campus- I, North Nazimabad. The objective was to develop the following in our students:
- Self-directed learning
- Presentation skills
- Critical thinking
- Creative writing skills
- Dialogue delivery
- Moral values
The Puppet Show was part of the English lesson which was integrated with Art. Students worked enthusiastically, with intrinsic motivation throughout the entire activity.
In the first round students wrote dialogues keeping in mind all the features of story writing: setting, characters, problem/conflict, plot, climax, resolution and theme. In their Art lesson they prepared vibrant eye-catching props, appropriate to suit the character and situation. Students rehearsed the dialogues to match the personality they were depicting. They, then presented in front of their peers and helped in identifying the inaccuracies to help each other better their performance. Through this each student got a chance to self-evaluate their own performance. During the second round, Class 7 presented their Puppet Show to the younger audience of Classes 1 to 3 and received lots of applaud. In the end the audience shared their views and discussed the stories. Certificates were awarded to students of Class 7 for their active participation.
