For a long time women had been deprived of their rights and freedom but things have begun to change and women are now beginning to receive their rights and freedom. On 8th March, GMBK-1 celebrated International Women’s Day with full zeal and fervor; a day dedicated to honour women for their hard work and giving them the freedom and rights they deserve.

The day began with an assembly where students came up on the stage and shared their thoughts on the importance of Women’s Day. Then the female teachers along with the female members of the student council were called on stage for a cake cutting ceremony and everyone received an overview of the activities planned. Following this year’s theme; #BreaktheBias, throughout the day students made cards and wrote inspirational words on sticky notes, and displayed them on the Message Wall. At the end of the day, the male teachers contributed to the excitement of Women’s Day by voting on the most suitable female teacher of separate categories such as “The Most Admirable Woman” or “The Most Hardworking Woman”. The teachers who received the most votes on a specific category were given certain prizes and teachers received chocolate bars to honour their hard work for the community.

The day was celebrated with full zeal and the message of #BreaktheBias was thoroughly spread. Let us always remember that gender should never limit the power of a woman because it’s time we moved away from the biased system and gave women the opportunity to truly express themselves.

Happy Women’s Day!
