Original Forest Cover
2022 Forest Cover.
The first picture (taken from Google Earth) in which the original forest cover is shown, has much more greenery with parts of South and East Asia, Siberia, nearly all of Europe and Southeast Asia, Central Africa, Northern and Northwestern America (North and South), Central America, Southern states of the U.S., the Caribbean, Canaan, the Caucasus and the islands of the Pacific being the greenest.
The reasons for deforestation vary from region to region. The reasons for deforestation in East Asia, the Pacific, South and Southeast Asia are because of rapidly increasing population, the increasing demand for timber wood to build houses, and agricultural land and livestock (all respectively). Due to illegal logging, illegal gold mining and unchecked agricultural expansion, deforestation in the Amazon rainforest has heightened. In Central Africa, agricultural expansion, mineral extraction, infrastructure development, commercial logging and charcoal and biofuel production has raised deforestation in the region.
In the second picture, the forest cover of 2022 is shown. Here, there is much less greenery. The following parts are covered in greenery nowadays: Scandinavia and the Nordic lands, patches of the Balkans, the Eastern tip of the Himalayas, the islands of the Pacific, Japan and Korea (North and South), Siberia, Northwestern America (North and South), and Indonesia.
