Did you know that there are many places that are my favorite, even yours, like the playground and parks why they look beautiful? Because of trees and plants. They are the most pivotal things in the world as they give us oxygen to breathe.
The Amazon is one of the biggest forests and 60% Of the Amazon Forest is in Brazil. It looked like this as shown in the picture. However, deforestation increased in the Amazon by 22% during the 2020-21 period.

By looking at the graph it is quite evident that deforestation in Brazil’s Amazon rainforest has hit its highest level in over 15 years.

Deforestation in the Amazon was due to small-scale farming where farmers cut down trees to produce crops for their families and local consumption. But in the later part of the 20th century, that began to change, with an increasing proportion of deforestation driven by industrial activities and large-scale agriculture. By the 2000s more than three-quarters of forest clearing in the Amazon was for cattle-ranching.

Indonesia is also the world’s leading palm oil producer and exporter, and the Indonesian palm oil industry is blamed to have been the number one cause of deforestation.

In 2019 Indonesia ranked third place in a row of tropical countries losing primary forest. In that year, 324.000 ha of primary forest was lost. The loss of these forests which absorb and store vast amounts of climate-warming carbon dioxide, provide habitat for thousands of species, and help control erosion and flooding has become a cause of global environmental concern.
