International Women’s Day, 8 March, is celebrated all around the world. It is a day when women are recognized for their achievements and strength.
This day has ensured a new dimension for women in developed and developing countries alike. The growing international women’s movement has helped make the commemoration a rallying point to build support for women’s rights and participation in the political and economic arenas.
This Women’s Day, BCP Qasimabad came together to celebrate the strength, the power and the compassion of a woman. To rejoice and inspire, BCP Qasimabad organized an Art Workshop called ‘Be yourself’ on this day and the students challenged themselves to let their inner artists out. This workshop was open to all the A level students. As the day started, the students gathered in the training hall and started working on the portraits while listening to the songs/quotes that help them feel empowered.
While students worked on their artistic sides to celebrate women empowerment, we also wanted to let the women around us know that they’re valued and appreciated. Which is why, BCP Qasimabad set up an appreciation wall. Each student and teachers were asked to write on the wall about a woman that inspires them. Some wrote about the women in their lives while others wrote about the powerful women that shaped history.
There is no doubt that the future is female and the month of March is marked as Women’s History Month all across the globe where International Women’s Day commemorates the cultural, political and socioeconomic achievements of women.
Women are constantly reminded of the disproportionalities they face through everyday activities; however, they need to be reminded of their power as well in order to adequately fight gender inequality.
