Our planet is an amazing place, but it needs our help to thrive, that’s why each year on April 22, more than a billion people celebrate Earth Day to protect the planet. This year at BSS Elementary Campus, a whole week of April from 18th till 22nd was dedicated to mother Earth and the students celebrated our shared home by learning how to best protect it and create a brighter, healthier future for all people. In alignment to the annual Earth Day theme addressing one of the most pressing topics of our time: climate change, students part took in a range of activities.

All the projects, presentations and activities were planned and carried out level wise with the learning objective of making the students not only aware of the importance of taking care of earth but also to think of better ways to do so and take action. They not only learned that the planet needs protection from things like pollution and deforestation but how in taking part in activities like picking up litter and planting trees, we’re making our world a happier, healthier place to live. The students learned the impact of climate change across the world and how they can take action by acting now and together to live more sustainably, necessary to avoid the worst effects of climate change.

The students from Early Years gave presentations on the Natural resources of Earth, what they are and why they are important and how to take care of each of them followed by colorful performances on songs urging to take care of our planet. Students of grades I & II presented on the topics of endangered animals and special news broadcast. Students from grade III till V made projects by Re-using objects and putting them to use. They also recorded their video messages sharing their acts to save the earth. Trash Art was setup with eye-catching exhibits of artworks made from scrap. A board display was setup making thinking visible of the pledges undertaken of students from grade I til V.
