“We should not teach children the sciences; but give them a taste for them.” – Rousseau
Curiosity, especially passionate curiosity, is a powerful driving force. To pique the curiosity of the students in the subject of Science, BMC-Girls arranged a Science Fair where aspiring scientists displayed their projects. The main aim behind the fair was to develop 21st century skills of students. Students collaborated in groups and with the help of their critical thinking skills created outstanding scientific models. Their models depicted how Science has impacted our lives.
There was a complete section on “Women and Space” which turned out to be a great motivational factor for our students. Another unique aspect of the fair was a section dedicated to “Islam and Science” where various scientific concepts like water conservation, water cycle and rockets were explained with reference to Quran. The mention of elements of the periodic table in the Quran was also discussed.
Our students managed to impress the very honorable Chief Guest, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Mr. Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat by explaining their projects and demonstrating their working models related to particle Physics, rockets, robots and elephant toothpaste!
The event was indeed a memorable one which students will remember for a long time.
