School Traditions – Letting the inner leaders out

“Effective education is not adding a program or a set of programs to a school. Rather, it is a transformation of the culture and life of the school.”

– David Berkowitz

School is a second home to children, where they spend most of their time, where they are in a continuous process of learning, where they learn to be social, where they learn to grow mentally, where they learn to respect, evaluate and reflect upon their emotions and different aspects of life. The learning within the four walls of the school is beyond what is written on the pages enclosed between the front and the back cover of the books.

We hereby would like to share few of many practices of Beaconhouse School System, where focus is the growth of our students and comfort of their parents, where it is ensured that students emerge as the best version of themselves.

To begin with, an Orientation Meeting with the parents is conducted at the beginning of the session, where all the queries of the parents regarding the academics of our students are thoroughly answered.

Moving on to another very important tradition, setting up a Student Council. The main purpose of the Student Council is to develop leadership qualities of the students. Council members are not selected but elected, which allows other students to practice their rights and develop an understanding of the fact that freedom comes with responsibility.

Next, the Investiture Ceremony. The elected student council are then given the sashes of their respective houses under the flags raised high above their heads. An oath of performing their duties to their best is taken.

Celebrations of Milad un Nabi ﷺ are carried out with dignity and respect in honour of our beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ whose teachings and guidance shall continue to guide those who are astray, towards the right path, till the end of times.

One of our favourite practices, as a learning institute, is the celebrations of Global Dignity Day. Children showcase perfect examples of dignity, they respect and value others, regardless of their caste, color, gender, race and social statuses and we, we make sure to clear their ways while they walk on that track.

“Education’s purpose is to replace an empty mind with an open one.”
– Malcolm S. Forbes

And we shall continue to do so…
