Mindfulness means “being aware of what is happening right now and how you feel about it”.
It is “living in the present moment”. It is as simple as letting go of the past and not waiting for the future.
The small exercise below can take you to a mindful moment.
Close your eyes, sit quietly and…
Breathe — Take deep breaths, let them out slowly. Repeat for at least five times.
Listen — Listen to the sounds around you and think about how many of these sounds you can name.
See — Look at one item around you. Think about its shape, color and texture. Think of how it is made.
Touch — Use your fingertips to feel an item on the area around you. Think about how it feels and words you would use to describe it.
Smile — Open your eyes and enjoy the world around you.
