As another year comes to a close we prepare for the ever dreadful and horrifying exam season *scary music*. It gives us shivers down our spine and makes the hair on the back of our neck stand up like kids saying good morning to teachers. Yet, my dear reader, fret not for I am here to guide you on this perilous journey with these 5 simple and easy tips and tricks.

Enough Study Time… remember to give yourself enough study time beforehand. Ensure that you start preparing many days ahead because it would be mad as a hatter to try to cram all that knowledge at the very end.

Organize…in the days leading up to your exams become the exact embodiment of Marie Kondo, the renowned Japanese Consultant who organizes even specks of dust. Get all the sticky notes, tags and files you can find and begin organizing your notes into proper sections starting with the most important. This will help you navigate through them easily when preparing for exams.

Old is Gold…a generic saying yet absolutely true. Find old papers from the previous years and use them to understand the format of the paper. You can also time yourself while practicing to allocate a particular amount of time for each section of the exam.

Brainy Foods…though junk food is indeed a heavenly treat because who wants to replace Flaming hot Cheetos with a bland glass of milk? yet the foods you choose maintain your brain’s health and in turn help you study. Go for nutritious foods like fish, eggs, milk, yogurt, almonds and berries. Also make sure to drink plenty of water to keep yourself hydrated.

Dial it back…we don’t like to overdo things, right? Anything beyond its required amount is quite gauche. Just like that it would be wise to study but not so much that your mind goes berserk. Try to take breaks, a recommended routine would be to study an hour with full concentration and take a break for 10 minutes and repeat. P.S. during breaks avoid social media as that is definitely a downward spiral (quite difficult to log out of Instagram) instead walk around, stretch your legs and have a little snack.

After completing my LLB degree I became an English language teacher in Beaconhouse School System. I’ve always had a passion for writing. Back in my school days I took part in many essay competitions. I adore the idea of having a quite work space and write extensive essays and blogs to share my thoughts with the world. I’ve also written articles for the Herald Tribune newspaper. I hope you do enjoy my blogs and that you’ll keep reading them. :)
