On 14th March, 2022, Beaconhouse Bahria Enclave Campus hosted a grand ‘Culture and Open Day’, by welcoming students, parents and members of the community to celebrate the diversity that exists within our beautiful Pakistani culture.
Principal Amna Usman said, “The aim for the event was to increase cultural awareness and to instill pride in our students for the rich heritage we’re all a part of. Our youth needs to understand the importance of forming a strong cultural identity.”
At the event, there were stalls set up for each culture including KPK, Chitral, Gilgit, Sindh, Balochistan, Makran and Punjab and children dressed up in their traditional outfits based on the cultural group they belonged to. The beauty of it was that some students chose a group which they were unfamiliar which gave them a chance to explore all about a new culture. On the stalls, you could find a variety of foods, clothes , jewelry, artifacts, and many more traditional items.
The students and teachers put in a lot of effort to synchronize traditional dances and were able to perform them for the whole crowd on the event day. The ground was filled with music, colors and merriment as each group came to perform the dances that they worked so hard on. There were also food vendors, jewelry/craft stalls where people could buy traditional items, a sugarcane juice vendor, dhol musicians and even horses for children to ride on! Early Years participated by playing cultural games such as Kikli, Kho-kho, and pakram pakrai.
The event was a great success and everyone who attended it had a wonderful time!
